1. Describe Reynie
Reynie is independent, he is very smart and VERY clever, if there is a problem he will fix it, if there's a puzzle he can solve it.
2. On page five, it states that Reynie looked for solitude and freedom from persecution. What does this mean? Use evidence from the text to support your answers.
He just wanted solitude and freedom, he didnt didn't like being told what he can and cant do.
3. Why would Reynie break his pencil in half for someone that he didn't even know?
Reynie broke his pencil because he saw there was a problem and he wanted to help.
4. On page 17, it states that Reynie, "felt the weight of loneliness upon him." Why? What happened, use evidence to support your answers.
Reynie felt lonely because he didnt didn't have any friends, he finally found someone to talk to but they left himto him to be alone again.
5. Is cheating ever ok? How and why did Reynie resist the temptation?
Cheating would not be okay because if he cheated he wouldn't have truly been smart enough to pass the test on his own, Reynie resisted because he knew this.
6. Why are rules made? Why are those so many rules in chapter one?
The rules are made to see if kids will listen to what they say.
Friday, February 17th
1. Reynie says he doesn't like television. Do you believe him? Why or why not?
I believe him, some people just dont don't like tv, plus why would he lie on a test?
2. Why is it important for this team to work together?
They all have unique talents but all are different.
3. At the beginning of the chapter Rhonda doesn't seem upset at all - why?
Rhonda doesn't seem upset because she is used to things like this happening.
4. Describe Kate and Sticky. Who do you think are the protagonist and antagonist of the story so far?
Kate is very talented when it comes to physical things like walking on her hands, afterall after all she lived in the circus.
Reynie is very talented with mental things such as knowing some answers in the impossible test they took.
1. What is the most important test the children passed in order to be selected?
The most important test was to see if they would be useful, honest and trustworthy. Like when Rhonda dropped her pencil, and when she offered them a cheat sheet.
2. How are they tested?
They were tested on how clever they are, and how smart, and many more things by making all the tests into a puzzle.
3. Why doesn’t it seem to matter that all the children solve the problem in a different way?
They will all be useful in their own way, Kate has physical talent, Sticky has mental talent, Reynie is clever, and Constance isn't afraid to speak up even when its rude.

Narcolepsy is a disorder which makes you fall asleep when your are experiencing major emotion, this occurs to Mr.Benedict whenever he laughs to hard.

Zambia is a country in southern africa Africa.
6. Is Bembi a real language?
Bembi is not a real language but Bemba is a language that some people from Zambia speak.
7. Why do you think Mr. Benedict wants this group of children for an important assignment?
He needs children because the sender uses children to send his messages, and this particular group is very intelegent especially in the ways he needs for this assignment.
8. What does the word " vexed" mean and how is it used in these two chapters?
Vexed meams means to be irritated and annoyed, they used this in the book when someone was irritaded or annoyed.

Monday, February 20th
1.With so much in common, Kate, Reynie, Sticky, and Constance still have dissimilar traits.What are the traits they possess that bring them together?
Reynie is clever, Kate is a gymnist gymnast, Sticky is really smart and intellegent intelligent , and constance Constance isn't afraid to speak up, even when its rude.
2. What causes discord among the team members?
Constance is annoying everyone and people are getting unfocused.
3. What in their backgrounds and family life is similar? What is dissimilar?
The similarity between all of their backrounds backgrounds is that they somehow ended up growing up lonely. the difference is how they got to be alone, Reynie's parents died and he lives in an orphanage with no friends, Kate was sent to an orphanage and ran away to the circus twice, Sticky ran away from home because his parents liked money more than him, and as for constance Constance still dont don't know.
4. How do the likenesses play a role in their assignment?
They all agreed because they have no where better to be and no parents to miss them, it is important that they all are gifted in some way because they can all play a role in this adventure.

Wednesday, February 22nd
1. Why do you think that Mr. Benedict is telling the children to pay attention to what the Institute doesn't teach?
He wants them to find out more of why or how the institute is doing this, not what its doing, he already knows that.
2. What is Morse code? Who invented this communication system and what was it used for?
Morse code is a secret way of writing, you must llearn learn the code to be able to understand it.
3. Mr. Benedict on page 119 states, "Whether you always agree is inconsequential,..." What does this mean? How does this fit into the definition of a team?
They get the choice to go on with the assignment or not, just to check if the kids really trust their society.
4. When Sticky tells about his background, he says that philanthropists began sending his parents money, what are philanthropists? It also says that Sticky was astonished and mortified - about what?
A philanthropist is someone who engages in philanthropy, Sticky was astonished and mortified that his parents said that they are better off without him.
5. Constance had a breakthrough on page 124, describe this event.
Constance made sticky reveal his life story which turned out to be very depressing.
6. Milligan has amnesia and wears disguises - why?
So that no one knows that he is him, that will help protect the children and himself.
7. At the end of the chapter, Milligan couldn't look at the children - why?
It was probably really emotional because thats that's all he remembers and he doesnt doesn't want the children to see that in his face.
8. What is the "unintended consequence" mentioned on page 135?
The "unintended consequence" is that something greater is coming but no one knows what, the voices that get into peoples heads are just a side effect to lead up to it.
9. Describe the Sender.
His name is Ledropthe Curtain, he was a very smart scientist, He invented the turbines to get energy in the nomansan Nomanson islands, he published papers on everything, he went missing and published no more papers no one could find him after that.
10. Why was Reynie doubting his trust for Mr. Benedict?
Mr.Benedict was a strange man that just put him through all these tests end mazes and he hardly knows Mr.Benedict, he just seems very mysterious.
11. What does the word "forged" mean on page 136?
Forged means to beat into shape or to imitate handwriting or a signature.
12. Again, why do you think that Constance is an important part of the team? Your answer should reflect change from the last time we discussed this.
I think Constance is an important part of the team because she is stubborn so she wont listen to their enemy no matter what and she isnt isn't afraid to speak up even if its rude.
13. Why is Mr. Benedict commonly found on the floor?
Mr.Benedict is commonly found on the floor because he has a disorder (narcolepsy) that makes him fall asleep when he laughs so Rhonda and Number two make him ssit sit on the floor so he doest doesn't fall and hurt himself if he falls asleep.
14. How could Constance be the key to the team's success?
Constance could help the team towards sucess success because she is so stubborn she might ignore the institute if they are trying to brainwash her. Also if the others are to scared to talk she could for them.
15. On page 143, why is Reynie thanking Mr. Benedict?
He is thanking Mr.Benedict because he gave him a purpose to his life, this beats sitting around in an orphanage with no friends.

Tuesday, February 28th
Normansan Island
1. How are you enjoying this book so far? What questions do you currently have about this book that you think will be answered as we continue with the book?
I really like this book, its one of my favorites so far, I'm wondering why the sender wants to put these messages into peoples minds and what is he planning?
2. Who are the executives and what is their job? What's the difference between a messenger and an executive?
Executives are people who used to be a student here and now are working here, they are a better rank than the helpers but not as good as the messangers messengers, they are mostly on patrol or doing slightly important work. A messanger messenger does all the important work sending messages to people over television.
3. Describe Jackson and Jillson. What do you think their role is in this book?
Jackson and Jillson are nice but seem clueless towards knowing the institute is a bad place, i think they are executives and are doing their jobs of looking over the children.
4. On page 160 it states that Kate was, "trying to prove she didn't need anyone's help and this was easiest to believe when she was doing what she was good at." What do you think this means?
She wanted to feel like she was fine independent and didn't need anyone else, if she did what she was good at then she would succeed without help from anyone else.
5. The end of the chapter ends with a cliff-hanger. What is a cliff-hanger and why it important?
A cliffhanger is something that leaves you in the middle of a problem without solving it yet, this is important because it gets you hooked and gets you to want to read on.
Traps and Nonsense
6. Why do you think there was a trap disguised with a plant on top? Do you think this will be important later in the book? What is that called when an author gives you clues as to what is going to
occur further into the book?
I think this is incase in case anyone is wondering off to make sure no one gets in trouble, i think this leads to something interesting or important, maybe the thing that the messages is preparing for, i hope the kids investigate.
7. Who are the helpers?
Helpers are people who work at the institute who used to be students, this was the job for the ordinary students where they helped do all the unimportant work.
8. On page 166, the phrase "Whatever floats your boat," is an idiom. What is an idiom and what does this phrase mean?
This idiom means do whatever makes you happy or proud.
9. What do you think about the Institute having no rules? How is this statement contradicted? 10. What is a free market? Why do they have to memorize a chant about the free market?
I find this kind of suspicious but i suppose they want the kids to think this is the best school ever and just watch TV.

Read Beware the Gemini

1. On page 174 it states that the new kids always felt "conspicuous," what does this word mean?
It means nervous, or unaware of what everyone will think of them, just unsure.
2. What are the "recruiters" and "Institute scouts" that they are referring to?
They were probably referring to the "unexpected new arrivals.
3. What clues are mentioned in the book that might suggest that the new arrivals might have been kidnapped? Use text evidence in your answer.
They looked really dazed and all they called them were "unexpected new arrivals".
4. Describe Mr. Curtain
Mr.Curtain looks identical to Mr.Benedict but is evil. He acts like this is a wonderful inviornment environment for the kids (except for how he rides his wheelchair) but to me he seems clueless towards what he is going to put them through.
5. Could Mr. Curtain and Mr. Benedict be the same person?
They could, especially how confused Mr.Benedict is but i think they are just identical twins.
6. Why would everything be backwards at the institute? What might their reasons for this be?
They want all the students to think this is more fun than a normal school and get them excited to be able to be a messenger.
7. What does the word "sasquatch" mean that is mentioned on page 179?
Kate made a joke that S. Q. stood for sasquatch that is one of the workers at the institute.
cryptic message and why would this be important?
A cryptic message is a message in code just in case officials see it.
9. On page 184 it states, "As is always the case with a society, some arguing remained to be done." Is this true and why might this be important to all societies?
I think this is true, it is important because they have more than one opinion and that will help see what more people might like.
10. What is "gemini" and why is this word important to this chapter?
A gemini is the sign of the twin, this is important because that means Mr.Curtain isn't the same person as mr. Mr.Benedict, they are just twins.

Monday, March 5th
1.Why do you think that no mirrors can be found at the Institute?
I think their are no mirrors because they are trying to erase the kids memories and seeing themself themselves might remind them of who they are.
2. Find the idiom on page 188 and explain what it means.
"a stitch in time saves nine", this means; a small fix can eliminate the need for major repairs later.
3. What do you think of the statement, found on page 189, "Because it was impossible, in the end, to protect yourself from anything - no matter how hard you tried - it was important to try as hard as you could to protect yourself from everything." What does it mean in the story and what does it mean in life?
When trying to avoid something you just run into another problem so just avoid everything.
4. Why would SQ say she was "astounded or astonished" when Sticky and Reynie had received perfect scores? Why would this upset Martina?
She was amazed at their scores, they just started and they might already become messangers messengers , this upsets Martina because she is a messanger messenger and Reynie or Sticky could take her place.
5. What lessons had the kids learned in this chapter? Why would this chapter be named, "Lessons Learned?"
I think they learned that everything was confusingly backwards at the institute and they did really well on the quiz so they have to stay away from Martina.
6. The Helpers "averted" their eyes and had a "constant show of deference," why and what does this mean?
They avoided locking eyes with anyone and never spoke a word.
7. Why do you think that Mr. Curtain often was looking toward the bridge and off into the distance?
He probably wondered what it was like in the rest of the world, he is always stuck at the institute.
8. On page 201 it says that the corridor erupted into a "cacophony," what does this mean?
harsh discordance of sound. which meant as soon as the boy left the room they all started talking.
9. Why wouldn't the students want to go to the Waiting Room? Use text evidence to support your answer.
They might not want to go to the witing waiting room because that means they are going to lose their special privilege of being a messanger.

March 7th
1. What does the simile "his eyelids felt heavy as anvils" mean?
It means he was really tired, his eyelids were drooping.
2. On page 210, Jackson stated, "You can say whatever you like when you have permission, right now no one has permission." What is he referring to?
He was referring to that they werent weren't allowed to talk right now, he just said this in a very confusing way.
3. On page 211, Sticky could feel the "malice," what does this mean?
He could tell that there was something wrong and the messages were getting to him.
4. Why is this chapter called Logical Conclusions and Miscalculations?
The children had to become messanger messenger quick so they decided to cheat.
5. How does fruit fit in with the discussion of taxes, war, health, the justice system.....?
They said the government was bad like poison apples.
6. The symbol poison apples, poison worms refers to what?
That the government was bad like poison apples or poison worms.
7. Reynie looked at the literal meaning of being poisoned, was he wrong? Explain your reasoning.
They were just making a similie simile, not that the government was actually poisoned.
8. On page 216, it states that, "Most of us will simple feel irritable and confused." Have you heard this before? Where and what were they referring to?
I heard it in the book before,the messages were somehow getting to the children even though they were trying to avoid it and this was making them feel irritable and confused.
9. Mr. Benedict told the children that their love for the truth will protect them, what does this mean?
The children always seek the truth, they wont put up with lies, they dont don't like tv or the radio.
10. Why can Constance hear the Messenger's voice?
The Messages were affecting her more than the others so she could actually hear the voices in her head.
12. Why is it so important that the children become Messengers as quickly as possible?
The thing to come is coming much sooner than they expected so the children have to become messangers messengers fast so they can investigate and stop it.

14. Why couldn't Charlie explain about the special privileges?
He wasn't allowed to give out information to any of the other students.

March 9th
1. Why was Reynie jealous?
Reynie was jealous because Bonnie got to be the new messanger messenger, not him.
2. On page 236, it says that Mr. Curtain rolled his chair almost "imperceptibly", what does this mean?
This means he moved his chair very slightly or gradually.
3. "If you don't trust them, keep them close." What does this mean and why would Reynie say this statement?
This means become good friends with them to see what they are up to and if they are trustworthy.
4. What is a sense of "deja vu?" (page 238)
A sense of deja vu is when you can tell something happened more than once.
5. "Control is always the key." What is this supposed to mean
If you keep everything in your control you will succeed.



Monday, March 12th


1. Why is this chapter called Of Families Lost and Found?
Reynie was making letters in his head to Mrs.Perumal who was his only family.
2. On page 254, it states, "What has been lost may yet be found, Have hope." What does this message from the mainland mean?
It seems as though the kids have lost everything, but they should still have hope.
3. Respond to Reynie's idea of what a family might be all about, "I have no experience, but well, is this what family is like? The feeling that everyone's connected, that with one piece missing the whole thing's broken?"
yes, after having family you know them really well and if they leave it seems as though its not a family anymore.
4. On page 257, it, "family is often born of blood, but it doesn't depend on blood." What does this mean?
Family is usually your family from blood or birth but can be close friends (not by blood).
5. What was the cliff hanger in the chapter Of Families Lost and Found?
The ending, Reynie said "Maybe were looking at this the wrong way, maybe we don't have to lay hands on it.
6. Why do you think that family is such an important theme that is woven in and out of almost each chapter?
The children have no family and are starting to feel like they are each others family.
7. What does "Tactical Caciupi" mean and why would the author name this chapter that title?
It relates to octopus, plural is octopi, the kids were all behind a cactus and Reynie could see their arms and legs, the cactus was like an octopus.
8. Why would Mr. Curtain say that one of his biggest accomplishments would be the invention of his tidal turbines? Explain what these are and how might they be used on the island.
I think they contain something to control the world when the right time comes.
9. What was Kate using her spy glass/kaleidoscope for?
She was spying on Reynie in Mr.Curtains office.
10. Knowing Sticky's talents, what do you think he is being used for when it comes to the journal?
He would remember everything Reynie told him that was in the journal, that would be helpful.
11. On page 267, the first entry is read and one part states, "There is no such thing as perfect control. I have come to understand, however, that the illusion of perfect control can amount to the same thing." What does this mean and what implications might this have on the story?
He just confuses the children and control what they do by telling them not to do it.
12. How can you have an illusion of control?
He just controls them by telling them everything in riddles that are basically rules.
13. Explain "brainsweeping."
Brainsweeping is what Mr.Curtain does to some of the kids, he does something that makes them loose all their memories in their life and they usually end up being confused or depressed like Mr.Benedict.
14. Why aren't the special recruits every scared?
The special recruits were brainswept so they don't remember anything before this so the institute is basically home to them.
15. What do you think the "improvement" is that they are talking about on page 270?
Something to control more than just the people on the institute, it could make everyone smarter.
16. What do you think his message on page 272 means?
Mr.Curtain wants everyone to trust him and trust that he will do the right thing.

March 14th
1. Why is this chapter called, "Caught in the Act?"
Sticky was caught cheating by Jillson and was sent to the waiting room.(Duhn Duhn Duhnnnnnnnnnnn)
2. On page 277 it says, "precipice." What does this mean and how is it used in the sentence?
A precipice is a verticle cliff, In Reynie's dream he fell off a precipice.
3. Why were Reynie, Kate and Constance trying to climb the wall?
They were trying to climb the wall so that they could see into the ten foot high window to see what the executives were doing in the gym.
4. Again, it mentions the "improvement." Any clues as to what this might be?
I think te the improvement is blasting the messages to full power to overcome everyone.
5. On page 282, the word "ominous" is used. What does this word mean and how is it used in the sentence?
Ominous means evil, harmful or threatening, that is how they described the thump as the door opened by S.Q.
6. Describe Sticky as he came out of the Waiting Room.
Sticky was a nervous reck and smelt really bad, he never wanted to go back and at first wouldn't respond to Reynie.
7. Why wouldn't Sticky talk after he came out?
He wouldn't talk because he was so nervous and so depressed he couldn't manage to talk about it.
8. List the main characters and what they have to offer to a "team." Why might this be important to the rest of the book? (Reynie, Constance, Kate and Sticky)
Reynie: Clever, finds a way out of everything, Kate: calculate exact lengths of things, has everything handy(in her bucket) and is a gymnast, Sticky: Extremely smart, Constance stubborn, loud, rude
9. What was the main idea for this chapter? Give two supporting details.
The main idea was that sticky was caught cheating and was sent to the waiting room. as always Reynie had a plan to get him out of trouble.

March 16th
1. What was the dilemma that Sticky was facing with Mr. Curtain? What would you have done?
Mr.Curtain wanted to talk to Sticky about cheating, Stricky was brave and a good lier and he blamed it all on Martina.
2. State Mr. Curtain's view on the idea of "control."
Mr.Curtains idea of control is that everyone does things his way, he gives an illusion to people that they think they can do whatever when really there are rules that they are following.
3. Why do you think that Sticky got off the hook for cheating and Reynie got off the hook for lying?
They both got off the hook because they did a good job and Mr.Curtain didn't notice, Sticky just blamed it on Martina.
4, On page 304 it states that Martina's face, "shone with malevolence," what does this mean and how does that apply to this sentence?
This means she wished harm to others and really disliked them.
5. Why would Martina be promoted to Executive? Give reasons and your thinking as to why.
She was promoted because she worked really hard and if she was an elective, she would have no reason to cheat anymore.
6. What does it mean when Mr. Curtain says that the "best way of dealing with those you don't trust is to keep them close." Reynie said this and now so has Mr. Curtain - what do you think this means for the both of them?
This means become good friends with someone you dont don't trust to see what they are up to and if they are trustworthy.
7. Why did Mr. Curtain make Sticky and Reynie messengers?
They were really smart and got amazing grades, so thgey they were ready.

What do you think this message might mean? Give reasons for your thinking.
I think they need to go to where kids get off (or exit) the island to find somewhere that leads them to what they have been looking for the whole time.


March 19th
1. At the beginning of the chapter, Reynie has a dream. What do you think the dream means?
His dream means he really misses Mrs.Perumal and really hopes they dont don't get caught as spies.
2. On page 314, it states that Reynie and Sticky shook hands "resolutely," what does this mean and how does it fit into the sentence?
This means firmly or determined, this means they were absolutely sure about what they are about to do.
3. On page 315, Jackson refers to Sticky or George as "dimwitted," what does this mean and how does it fit into the sentence?
a stupid or slow-thinking person. Jackson thinks Sticky is stupid.
4. Why couldn't the boys know the way to the Whispering Gallery?
They were'nt weren't allowed to know the way just in case they were to tell anyone and investigate.
5. Describe the Whispering Gallery.
The whispering gallery is a big machine that they strap into and are asked questions that they answer with their thoughts.
6. On page 317, it states that the Whispering Gallery is so "austere," what does this mean?
This means it looks severe, in manner or appearance; uncompromising; strict; forbidding.
7. Again the idea of control comes up over and over, why?
They have a very strange way of control at the institute.Explain the various methods of control.
Mr.Curtain used reverse psychology and confused them and made them think they were doing this on their own when really Mr.Curtain was controlling them.
8. Describe what The Whispering can do and not do.
The whisperer gives them a happy feeling by releiving relieving them from their fears, just by asking them questions the whisperer gets them to say messages to everyone.
9. On page 319, when Renyie states that, "They go down easier, like candy rather than medicine." What is he talking about?
The thoughts from the whisperer go down easy like candy, but really is like medicine to peoples minds.
10. On page 319 it refers to "inputting data," what is this?
Each childs child's thoughts are inputting data towards the improvement.
11. On page 321, it states, "poison apples, poison worms," again - now what is this referring to? Why is this phrase repeated throughout the book?
Mr.Curtain is testing the kids, to see what they think of when he says that.I'm not sure what you mean here. Please explain more.
He wants to see if Reynie and Sticky are ready, to do this he gave them a simple quote and see if they responded the way he wanted.
12. On the last page of The Whisperer" it ends with Sticky saying, "Not being wanted, not being wanted at all," what was the question?
That is his biggest fear.
13. Why didn't Reynie want to sit and eat with the rest of the messengers? What excuse did he give the messenger?
He wanted to stay with his old friends and talk with them, his excuse was that he had the stomach flu.
14. On page 333, when Constance says that Reynie is "on," what does this mean?
This means he is thinking hard and good and coming up with something.
15. How do we know that Mr. Curtain will be done with the Messengers after "the Improvement?"
He wont need them anymore because all of the messages will be sent.
16. What are the clues about the trap?
The clues are the boulders and that they aren't allowed off the path, and Mr.Benedict's last riddle.
17. How did the kids figure out the code?
Reynie figured out that over ment meant upside down and LOSE upside down is the code: 3507.

March 21st
1. Why is this chapter called "Practice Makes Perfect?"
The chapter is called this because Mr.Curtain needs to practice on messengers using the whisperer until he is ready for everyone in the world.
2. Why would the government press releases be dated for the future?
Because Mr.Curtain was planning ahead for what was going to happen.
3. What does the article and page 346/347 mean?
Mr.Curtain expects to rule the world and is planning what will happen.
4. Why would Mr. Curtain want to create fear in everyone?
Mr.Curtain wants to create fear in everyone so that he can put them in machines like the whisperer so they are happy and will love him.
5. Why would Mr. Curtain want to put together an Amnesia Sanctuary?
Mr.Curtain wants to put together an Amnesia sanctuary so that everyone who was brainswept and cant remember anything can go there.
6. Why is this chapter called, "Know Thine Enemy?"
This chapter is called Know Thine Enemy because the kids must work together to stop Mr.Curtain from taking over the world.
7. What is the "memory terminal?"
The memory terminal is the room with all of the brainsweeping machines, kind of like whisperers but less powerful.
8. On page 353, Reynie states, "But we are too late! Much, much too late," what is he referring to?
Mr.Curtain is already planning to take over the world and the improvement is coming soon, the children were to late to stop it and Miligan wanted them to just give up.
9. Who was the "recruiter" staring up at the window at night?
The "recruiter" was Milligan who wanted to meet up with the children to take them into hiding.
10. Why would he send the message to hurry?
Because they have to be quick and get there before they get caught.
11. Why was Milligan on the island?
He met with the kids and told them to go back with him so they can hide while Mr.Curtain brainsweeps everyone in the world.
12. Why wouldn't the kids follow Milligan?
The kids wouldn't go back to Mr.Benedict and hide while Mr.Curtain is taking over the world, they want to actually do some thing to try and stop Mr.Curtain.

1. What is Reynie's plan that he refers to on page 364? At first Reynie didn't have a plan all he could figure out was they needed to disable the whisperer, he didn't have a plan.
2. Why was Reynie so afraid of "betraying?" Reynie didn't want to betray his friends by joining Mr.Curtain, or screwing things up, betraying means 1. to deliver or expose to an enemy by treachery or disloyalty 2.to be unfaithful in guarding, maintaining, or fulfilling 3.to disappoint the hopes or expectations4.to reveal or disclose in violation of confidence 5. to reveal unconsciously (something one would preferably conceal )
3. Why was Reynie doubting himself? Reynie was doubting himself that he would be able to stand up to the whisperer long enough to save his friends and the rest of the world.
4. Why was Reynie sending Mr. Benedict a message? Reynie sent whisperer too strong. Please advise. -RM, he sent this because he didn't know if he could stand up to the whisperer.
5. What was the message that Mr. Benedict sent back? Remember the white knight.
6. What did the message mean? In one of the tests there was a question, if a chess tournament can look a certain way, Reynie answered correctly and it was possible because of the white knight.
7. How did Kate get into the elevator? Kate got into the elevator by climbing in the shaft and getting on top of the elevator then sneeking in from above.
8. Why didn't she want to push any of the buttons in the elevator? The noise would be to loud and she would be caught.
9. How does Mr. Curtain deal with the subject of fear? He sweeps it to the very back of everyones heads using the whisperer.
10. What is Martina's job? Martina has the job of an executive, since she is new she also does some of the messenger jobs.
11. How did Mr. Curtain make sure no one was in the culvert? He poured his hot water into it to see if anyone screams.
12. What did Kate see in the water that had deceived her? The water was hot and it splashed on her neck, she almost gasped.
